PFFALA 3rd District VP Bennie Ouber with Anita Bailes of the American Cancer Society delivering a petition with 60,000 signatures to the Leesville office of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson in support of the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Act. If passed, this would allow CMS to initiate an evidence-based coverage process for a multi-cancer screening test following FDA approval and demonstrated efficacy. This will help mitigate delays in expanding access to early detection of cancers for which there currently is no screening strategy.

On this day Veterans Day, the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana says Thank You. We appreciate and are thankful for all of the heroes, the men and women, who have served in the past and those who serve their country today. You protect what is so dear to all of us.

To our members from BRFD Fire Chief Michael Kimble:

Unfortunately, we are coming back to each of you asking for backfill assistance for a death caused by a work-related illness. Over the past 11 months, our department has experienced 3 deaths of active members that are all work-related.
On Monday, November 13, 2023, we will be having the funeral for our brother, Captain William "CJ" Sanders.
We want all of our employees to have the opportunity to attend his services. If your department would like to help us with backfilling from 0800-1500 on Monday, November 13, 2023, with manpower and equipment (Engine or Ladder), please get in touch with Deputy Chief Tom Jackson at (225) 571-1334 or email [email protected]. Thank you!

For more than 80 years, our fire fighters have proudly served their communities in their efforts to save lives and protect property. By contributing and receiving your supporter decal, you are helping us save lives. Although more than 4000 fire fighters are members of the PFFALA, our programs benefit every fire fighter and every resident in the state. By helping us, you are supporting the men and women who make Louisiana a safer place to live and raise our families. As fire fighters, we realize that we may need to go beyond the call of duty. That is a call we proudly rise to answer.
