This Thursday, Oct 10th, we will be hosting the PFFALA 3rd District Educational seminar in Lake Charles. This one-day seminar is to help educate our members on some of the topics, issues, thoughts and concerns, brought up at the PFFALA Convention and Legislative Conference earlier this year. This seminar is an opportunity to allow members who were not able to attend these earlier events, to learn more about issues that concern and affect them, their families, and the fire service. We stress that this is for all PFFALA members, not just those in District 3. Thank you to the Lake Charles Fire Fighters Local 561 for hosting this event.
The seminar is structured for to ask questions, learn about the topics and issues we struggle with daily, as well as legislation that affects us as fire fighters. Please share this invite with your members, potential members, and spouses.
There is no charge or registration fee. To ensure that we have sufficient seating, food, and beverages, RSVP via email as soon as possible to the following:
(CC all three) Lake Charles President Terrance Thomas [email protected], Jared Chandler @ [email protected] and Bennie Ouber [email protected]

PFFALA 3rd District VP Bennie Ouber with Anita Bailes of the American Cancer Society delivering a petition with 60,000 signatures to the Leesville office of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson in support of the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Act. If passed, this would allow CMS to initiate an evidence-based coverage process for a multi-cancer screening test following FDA approval and demonstrated efficacy. This will help mitigate delays in expanding access to early detection of cancers for which there currently is no screening strategy.

For more than 80 years, our fire fighters have proudly served their communities in their efforts to save lives and protect property. By contributing and receiving your supporter decal, you are helping us save lives. Although more than 4000 fire fighters are members of the PFFALA, our programs benefit every fire fighter and every resident in the state. By helping us, you are supporting the men and women who make Louisiana a safer place to live and raise our families. As fire fighters, we realize that we may need to go beyond the call of duty. That is a call we proudly rise to answer.
